This is a practical educational outreach program.  The workshops are based on the NAWCC Field Suitcase Workshop outline.  The overall objective of the F101 courses are for students to learn how to repair ONE common eight-day time and strike pendulum clock.  Material presented will cover:

·         Recognizing an American time and strike clock.

·         Proper removal of the movement (mechanism) from the clock case.

·         Properly elimination of any power (mainspring) from the movement for safe examination and disassembly.

·         Examination of the movement and identifying problem areas.

·         Part identification and nomenclature.

·         Identifying potential mechanical problems.

·         Disassembling the movement and part labeling.

·         Addressing problems identified and how to make those corrections.

·         Cleaning the movement and mainsprings.  ~Mainsprings are the one real safety issue.  Make sure the students can and will know how to properly remove and clean.

·         Once all problems are identified and corrected, then cleaning the movement again.

·         Assembling the movement.
